January 2023 Beginners BJJ 5-Week Course

These classes will introduce beginners to BJJ the basic techniques and foundations of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Students can then decide if they would like to carry on and attend the fundamental sessions where a BJJ Gi (uniform will be required). Appropriate and comfortable sports attire will be required for these beginner sessions. The classes will incorporate fitness, agility, technique, and socialism. You will also find that there is no hostility amongst BJJ students. Come and learn new skills, self-defense, get fit and make new friends along the way. There are only 8 spaces available so early booking is advisable to secure your place.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a self-defense martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one’s opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds.
